NAKOMA

Madison’s first suburb, made possible by the advent of the automobile, was Nakoma. Now part of Madison itself, Nakoma grew over the course of thirty years between 1915 and 1945. A National Historic District, the neighborhood features many beautiful examples of Colonial Greek and Tudor Revival, French Provincial and Prairie-style architecture. It’s also home to part of the Arboretum and the Nakoma Golf Club which includes a pool and tennis courts. Residents can walk to Monroe Street restaurants and stores, or be there in a car in mere minutes. It’s also easily accessible to the belt line making commutes a breeze.
